Lloyd Brothers Motorsports, Inc. is owned and operated by David and Michael Lloyd and is based in Central, Ohio. We have been involved in motorcycle racing for over 22 years.
In 2005, to Lloyd Brothers Motorsports, Inc. successfully developed and raced the only Aprilia-based motorcycles in AMA professional competition with a limited schedule. The strongest competitor in flat track, Harley–Davidson, has dominated the sport for the past twenty years. We started with Aprilia engines and developed our own chassis. With part-time riders, a limited budget, and innovative engineering and design, the Aprilia has evolved into a very competitive flat track racer.
Our unique effort attracted Aprilia USA as our support sponsor for our successful 2006 season. We attended all 11 AMA Grand National Twins races and qualified for the 18 rider main event 7 times. To put this in perspective, only 9 established teams made more main events and only 3 additional teams made as many main events as the Aprilia.
In 2007, Aprilia and Lloyd Brothers Motorsports, Inc., with associate sponsor American Agip, expanded our efforts to include The Grand AM Moto-ST Endurance Road Race Series winning 3 of the 6 events and the overall
championship.
2008 proved to be a very
successful season for the team as it defended and won the Moto-ST championship
for the second year, winning 3 of 7 races and once again claiming the overall
points championship with riders Ty Howard and Mike Himmelsbach.
In flat track, 2008 marked our
most successful season finishing in the top 10 several times and missing first
place at the Lima, Ohio National by .017 seconds.
This would have been the first win in the twin cylinder class for a new
brand other than Honda or Harley-Davidson in over 26 years.
